So today I learned about semantic html elements and a deeper dive into the ways you can select content in the html for css. I meant to spend a longer time integrating the stuff I learned onto this site but I proscrastinated and only got to the index. I also screwed up some of my css in swapping my elements from non-semantic to semantic which is slightly annoying but undoubtedly a result of me proscrastinating working on the site until well past 10 pm and I was really tired. Everything about the css right now is temporary anyway while Im still learning this websites just my playground and notebook. I did add a longer welcome message to my front page that you can read after scrolling past my fullsized logo because despite me putting the size I wanted for it in my css page it is still the full screen, I love my logos but its a tad bit much, Im just too sleepy to fix it tonight it can wait until tomorrow.

Happy new years friends. I had a small break from doing anything important or all that structured because I had a nervous breakdown right after christmas. But I'm feeling better now, I quit my job at gamestop because it felt like it was killing me terribly and I wanted to pivot so I gave myself a few days. Did a lot of art, cried a lot, tried to clear my head and now I feel a lot better than I did. I feel productive and it feels like my brain ability is going back up again - A big part of the rough time I was having included a lot of brain fog and I felt like I was getting less smart, Im sure I wasn't actually but still - and Im back at my "I want to learn how to code" ambitions.
With that out of the way here are the updates for today so I can go to bed. I added a bunch of buttons to my index nav bar, for my various creative socials (ravelry kofi) and my etsy shop. I also finally started making my shrine pages and it's really funny that I've taken this long because the shrine pages were one of the things I was most excited to add. I started the pages for my favorite band and my labubu collection. The labubu page has a title a back button a home button and some musings about how much I adore them and the alpha wolf page has a title a back button and a home button can you tell when I hit a wall and got tired. Good night.

There Have been a few other day of work on the site between my first update and this one but I didn't really like anything I did so I'm starting over anything that I added that Im keeping I will just explain as I add it this time. The main reason for starting over is that I feel like the service I was learning HTML from gave me a very inadequate baseline knowledge which made looking up how to do things confusing. So I found a different service to go through and a lot of things are already making more sense! I didn't really have a style direction the first time around but now I have a design concept I want to work towards. Im going for like a cyber secret garden vibe.
To truly start from scratch I erased all of my CSS and some of the extra pages I didn't have content for, I will be readding them but I want to figure out the art page and main page first before anything else just while I'm still learning. I did save the lines of CSS that I spent a lot of time fine tuning in the notepad doc I'm recording this Update log in just so I don't have to figure out ALL the same settings and measurements. who knows maybe I won't even use it.
I gave the pages titles and introductions, I also took a break from writing to clean up my code in a few areas, this includes moving a css rule from my style sheet to a style tag in the head of the update log because the special formatting I have for the dates on this page is only currently planned for this page, by keeping style rules that only apply to one page in the code for that page you can keep your code clean and readable + if I want to reformat the dates on this page I don't have to dig through a whole style sheet to find them. win win. anyway.
It was time to start uploading my artwork, it was this process that I interrupted to completely redo the whole site in case you were wondering. I have all of my artwork uploaded to the neocities file browser in a "photo" folder with easy to type descriptive names to make this process easy I'm also going to make my work a little easier by typing out img src=" class="large" and copying it so I can paste it and just type the path for the photo work smarter not harder, Eventually I would like for this Gallery to have a carousel of photos or arrows to click through the art. As well as little cards with their titles and descritptions. for now the best I can offer is just throwing them up in a big long doom list and just use a list of links for reference. WikiSalem.
I set up a class for my illustrations so I could style them into contained little boxes to hold information. The last thing I tried to figure out before going to bed was the index for my illustrations. I had this idea to make a list of links to access different works quickly but it's not working out the way I wanted. All the buttons work, you can link down to a piece and click the image to link back up to the top but it's clunky and the list pushes the pieces down the page. I will get this gallery situation figured out but it's gonna take a lot for work.
In lieu of finishing the index and uploading all the illustrations (I'm not sure that my way of displaying them is going to last long at all and I'd rather not sink too much time into a method Im actually honestly not sure about Im going to go sleep on it and revisit that part in the morning. Instead of finishing THAT I decided to start rebuilding the CSS, just starting with basics like font colors and backgrounds literally just so things are less boring and now I'm going to hop off so I can go play a little Hollow Knight before bed.

Created Website and Neocities account (free account since I'm not fancy yet). I edited the default index page into my home page by changing the colors removing the default text and adding a photo of me, I played around a lot with the css before choosing the pink colors I have now, Im not keeping the pinks forever I have some special plans for the design of the page but PINK for now :) I also made my subpages for artwork, my vinyl collection, and my favorite music with links styled like cute pink buttons on the home page to reach each one. I also made button links for my youtube channel and my neocites profile. For easy navigation between pages I also elected to create a home button for each subpage (and I linked to the homepage in my youtube channel bio). After getting all of the buttons working . I decided I needed an update log so I started to type one on the home page but when I realized I wanted to type A LOT I decided to make it it's own subpage. I made a subpage page for the update log and then linked in to the homepage and vice versa. It is 1 am and I have to work tomorrow but I really don't want to go this is so fun, Im having so much fun. I added a "date" class to the paragraph element for the date in the update log so I can give it a frame and customize the styling. I used the styling to make a purple band underneath the dates to separate the entries visibly. Good night Im going to bed xoxo
